Start here - How to set up your community

In this article you can read a general instruction about the operation and possibilities of our community feature.

This is how the community is structured: Each MemBirds site comes with its own community. Within this community you can then create different groups and within groups members can post messages (topics) and respond to each other's topics.

Create a group

The first step is to create a group. You can do this via Community > Groups > Add group and the number of groups you can create is unlimited.

General settings

After creating your group, you will see the screen below, where you can change the general settings of the group. For example the title of the group, description or visibility of your group. You have 3 choices for the visibility of your group:

1: Public to all members in my MemBirds site
2: Visible to all members in my MemBirds site, but only accessible to members who have access
3: Only visible to members who have access

Create categories

Within a group you can create one or more categories in which members can post messages. Just so that your community keeps nice and clean and messages will not end up on a big pile. You can create categories via Categories > Add category

Post messages

After you have set all settings to your preference, your group is ready to post messages in. Click on "View" in the top right of the screen to view your group. By clicking on "Start a new topic" you can post your first message. You can also add GIFs, images, videos or a poll to this message (besides text).

Likes and comments

When you or one of your members post in your community, other members have the option to leave a like or a comment. For every like a member receives, he or she receives 1 point in the Leaderboard that you can find on the right side of the screen.

Gems

As an admin user you have the option to give members extra appreciation by marking their posts as a so called "Gem". Gems are only available in limited quantities and are therefore more valuable than an “ordinary” like.
